The Kobe International Community Center (KICC) relocated to Nagata in 2021, moving from Sannomiya to a neighborhood with a high foreign resident population and numerous support organizations.
Initially established as a multilingual support hub for foreigners, offering consultation and Japanese language assistance, KICC has since expanded its activities, actively organizing intercultural exchange events.
These include events introducing Japanese culture to foreign residents and opportunities for foreigners to share their own cultures with Japanese locals.
This foundation of "mutual understanding" strengthens community bonds that foster cooperation and resilience in times of need, supporting grassroots disaster preparedness. Located in a mixed-use area of apartments and shops that evolved from the Taisho-Suji shopping street after the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, KICC also participates in local events to further integrate into the community.
